Didn't Max Frei use a scanning electron microscope for certain identification?

That was widely believed that Max Frei used a scanning electron microscope (SEM) for his pollen identification. In reality, he probably did not.

Frei never said that he did but implied it. Captions he provided for photographs contained wording such as “pollen types found on the Shroud.” It is doubtful that any of the SEM photos he provided were of pollen actually found on the Shroud. Some species that Frei identified, experts argue, could not have been identified with an ordinary light microscope.

Is there pollen from the areas of Jerusalem, Edessa and Constantinople?
