Twill
In
twill fabric, the weft or horizontal thread is passed over two or more warp
or vertical threads and then under a single word thread and then over two a
more threads repeatedly. This gives the fabric a diagonal wale as seen in
the picture on the right. The herringbone weave of the Shroud of Turin is a
variation on twill weaving. See: Herringbone
